5 Reasons to Sing your Heart Out in Nanaimo

If music be the food on love, play on…
And in Nanaimo this February, no one will be going hungry!
The ‘
Nanaimo Sings! Festival
’ is a three day choral extravaganza featuring 13 Nanaimo-based choirs that will be bringing beautiful music to town on February 23, 24 and 25. Here are five reasons why you simply can’t miss it…
1. Because Choral Music Always Sounds Better in a Church
The mini concerts taking place on February 23 and 24 will take place in St Paul’s Anglican Church, which means that the acoustics will be enchanting.
2. Because 13 Choirs Sound Better than One
On Sunday, February 25, all the choirs will gather at the Port Theatre for a gala concert at 7pm. There each choir will give a short performance, and the concert will end with the 350 voice-massed choir finale.
3. Because There’s a Great MC
Willi Zwozdesky
, noted Vancouver composer, arranger and director of the Vancouver Men’s Chorus will be the MC for the show and will direct the finale.
4. Because it won’t Break the Bank
Prices range from $10 for one mini concert, to $15 for two-day mini concert pass, and $20 for the gala at the Port Theatre.
5. Because there are Plenty of Places Nearby to Grab a Bite
There are plenty of great restaurants in the Arts District and the Old City Quarter. Grab a bite to eat before an early concerts; have dinner before an evening concert; or stop for a drink and a snack before heading home after a concert.
