THE BACKYARD FEST 2018

The great thing about Nanaimo is the way that the community bands together, and how you can step out your front door into something creative, vibrant, and fun. The Backyard Fest is exactly that; featuring some of Nanaimo’s best performers, a handful of local crafts and locally made clothing and more, this is your chance to check out the greatest Nanaimo has to offer.

The lineup for this event is still being nailed down, but there are already some really great acts! Check out this line-up:

Kendall Patrick: A singer/songwriter with a gorgeous voice, Kendall Patrick writes sweet, soulful music that will make you sway along. She has a gift for representing the ups and downs of real relationships, artfully weaving tiny narratives that you will instantly recognize. On the 18^th, she will be performing with her band The Headless Bettys.
Believe me, they don’t come more talented or more charming than Ms. Kendall Patrick. Don’t miss out.

The Dog Indiana: I don’t know why, but Nanaimo bands LOVE Indiana Jones. Many of their bands are named after references to George Lucas’ classic films, including local heros Top Men and Ah, Venice. Rockers The Dog Indiana carry on their tradition, referencing the fact that our intrepid archeologist’s beloved nickname came from the family dog. On May 19, they will be playing Soundstage Nanaimo with their trademark fuzzed-out grooves for a good old-fashioned rock show.

And there will be much, much more, including scrumptious eats provided by The Vault, local vendors and more! This is a truly communal event that all are welcome to. Find out more here.

Taking place Saturday May 18 to Sunday, May 19 at Soundstage Nanaimo, The Backyard Fest will be a beautiful glimpse into life on the island.
