Halloween is almost here, and we can’t wait to celebrate! Thankfully, there is no shortage of festive activities in Nanaimo this spooky season. From a haunted tour of the city’s most famous landmarks to a family-friendly drive-in movie event, check out the top three ways to celebrate Halloween 2021 in Nanaimo.
This year, the Nanaimo Museum is hosting a special Halloween event called Halloween Lantern Tours. Taking place on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the month of October, the museum is hosted a special guided tour that promises to thrill. Halloween Lantern Tours will feature tales of unexplained phenomena, a bloody apparition, and an uncanny spiritualist. This outdoor walking tour is COVID-friendly and will take you to some of Nanaimo’s most iconic landmarks.
The Old City Quarter Association and the City of Nanaimo Culture & Heritage are pleased to present a special Halloween drive-in movie event. For one night only, on October 30th at dusk, they will be screening Beetlejuice. This classic, PG movie is suitable for families and they have the capacity for 100 vehicles. Beyond the film, this free Halloween event includes a pumpkin carving contest, colouring contest, a witches dance, and a concession stand with cotton candy. Reserve your spot in advance!
A festive Halloween market is taking over the Woodgrove Centre this month. On October 23rd from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm and October 24th from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm, the Mom Market Vancouver Island Team is setting up a Halloween-themed vendor market for all to enjoy. Set up beside the food court, there will be trick-or-treating for the kids and artisanal goods made by local vendors.
If you’re going to be in Nanaimo this Halloween, then we recommend partaking in the events above. And if you need a place to stay during your visit, we’d love to have you at the Best Western Dorchester Hotel. We combine family-friendly amenities and a cozy atmosphere with an unbeatable location.
