The best place to stay in Nanaimo!

New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest parties of the year, but if you have kids sometimes it feels like the only things available are for adults only. If you’re looking to do something fun with the whole family this December 31st, come to Nanaimo! Our family-friendly town is always full of great things to do with the kids.

ROBIN HOOD AND HIS VERY MERRY MEN

Pantomimes are a Christmas tradition! For those who don’t know, pantomime (sometimes shortened to panto to distinguish it from the silent art of mime) is a fun, family-friendly form of theatre that encourages audience participation and having a great time! With fantastic traditions like yelling “BOO!” whenever the villain comes on stage, or hooting and hollering and giving feedback to the actors when they ask for it, this is an exciting way to see a live production that your kids will LOVE.

This year’s panto offering from Nanaimo Theatre Group is Robin Hood and his Very Merry Men. This kind of classic story is the perfect way to experience a Panto, giving the actors a springboard into hilarious jokes for young and old alike! And with shows running all the way to December 31, this is a great thing to do on New Year's Eve with the kids!

FINALE: A NEW YEAR’S EVE 80S PARTY

Finally! A family-friendly kid’s party! Finale! This dance party combines the best of a party (music and dancing) with a carnival for the kids! (bouncy castle, face painting, crafts)! Even better, with two countdowns at 8:00 and 10:00 PM, it gives kids a chance to enjoy this classic New Year’s tradition without having to stay up until midnight… and lets you go to bed early, too!

If you want to experience a family-friendly New Year’s in Nanaimo, book a room at the Best Western Dorchester Inn, located in Nanaimo’s beautiful waterfront. Even better, we’re pet-friendly so the WHOLE family can come!
